This drink is the perfect addition to any asian meal or by itself by a warm fire. Originally adapted from Linger, a restaurant in Denver with South American and Asian influences, this recipe puts an unique twist on a staple cocktail.
Ingredients – sugar, chinese five spice (cinnamon, star anise, fennel, Sichuan peppercorns), bitters, orange, ice, whiskey, whole anise pod and cinnamon stick (for garnish).
Stir small amount of sugar (about 1 cube) with Chinese five spice (about 1/2 teaspoon) in 2.5 ounces of whiskey, muddle in a fourth to an eighth of an orange depending on taste, add a couple dashes of bitters and stir. Top with 2-3 whole anise pods and a cinnamon stick as a garnish.
